FAMILIES MEETING

AdVIC organises two informative meetings for families and friends of homicide victims per year.

Those meetings are nationwide and in the past have taken place in Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Tullamore and Thurles

Only families and friends of homicide victims attend those meetings. Families, who have all experienced similar tragedies, can share their experiences and provide peer support for each others

Information on specific facets of the Criminal Justice System and issues affecting families following the homicide are provided through the use of invited speakers.

Past speakers include:

Jean Casey (qualified and accredited counsellor specialising in trauma counselling).
Dr Brian Farrell (Dublin City Coroner).
Sinead Behan BL (Chairperson to the Injury Criminal Compensation tribunal).
Dr. Anthony Mc Grath  (talk on the Victim Impact Statement).
Inspector Liam Casey(Family Liaison Officer(FLO) in AnGarda Siochana.

Families and friends of Homicide Victims are all welcome to those meetings
